Access to clean water is crucial to the health of children and the well-being of entire communities. Children often walk hours every day, unable to spend time reading and playing, in order to fetch buckets of clean water. Diarrhea, one of the leading causes of child mortality, can be considerably reduced through access to clean water. Plus, if children aren’t spending their days fetching water, they can learn and play.
Donate to our mission and you can help us provide clean, safe water with dug and drilled wells, water pumps and latrines – improving health, sanitation and agriculture of communities.
A WORLD APART
Children need water for washing, drinking, cleaning, and – yes – learning! Millions of children around the world spend hours each day searching for water, which takes away from time that could be spent learning and playing. When clean water flows, children can grow! You can help children get clean water.
ABOUT OUR WORK
A Day in the Life of Joseph
Joseph, a 7-year-old South Sudanese refugee, now lives with his mother and two siblings in Boroli Refugee Camp, Uganda. He is one of over 400,000 refugees who have fled South Sudan, seeking refuge from the brutal conflict that has engulfed the world’s youngest nation.
The Weight of Water
Robina, age 9, lives in rural Uganda. Like most girls there, she has to fetch water for her family to survive. Every day, she makes the long journey to collect drinking water from a distant well. And every day, she faces the threat of violence, and even death, along the way.
