Don’t forget, beyond our online events, there are plenty of ways you can get involved and activate your community to change. You can send a powerful message that pornography is not healthy or acceptable. Pornography is harmful to relationships, the body, and the brain. It teaches that women enjoy sexual violence and increases the likelihood that men will accept rape myths.
Remember, pornography teaches violence, especially against women. Research shows that pornography consumption is significantly associated with increases in verbal and physical aggression, among males and females alike. Moreover, in the 50 most popular pornographic videos (bought or rented), 88% of scenes contained physical violence, and 49% contained verbal aggression. Eighty-seven percent of aggressive acts were perpetrated against women, and 95% of their responses were either neutral or expressions of pleasure.
Your witness during WRAP Week and every day are essential to exposing the violence and exploitation inherent in pornography, changing the culture and helping to end the public health crisis of pornography.
